Linda Mungai is a Registered Nurse who holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Houston, Clear Lake (from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude) and a Masters in Public Health from University of Texas Health and Science.
From 2003-2007 she worked as a charge nurse at Christus’ St. John Hospital, providing direct patient care in a 45-bed medical/oncology/haematology unit. In this position, her duties included but were not limited to supervising nursing staff, preparing patients for procedures, interpreting doctors’ instructions, and monitoring and treating complications due to chemotherapy, including pain management.
From 2007-2013 she worked at St Luke’s Patients’ Medical Centre in Houston, Texas. At St. Luke’s, she worked as a charge nurse and an infection control nurse, collaborating with other departments to create and implement Infection Control Protocols specifically for hospital acquired infections. Ms. Mungai was also in charge of patient care and staffing on a 45-bed medical surgical unit: Preparing patients for surgery, patient teaching, ensuring pro-procedure consents are not only signed, but patients understand the information prior to procedures. At this job, she also educated nursing staff and new employees on infection control protocols and conducted monthly skills training and infection prevention techniques among nursing staff.
From 2014 to date, Linda has been working in the Hospice industry, gaining invaluable experience in telehealth and telehospice applications implemented to streamline access and delivery of hospice services to patients, their families and care providers. Skills attained include but are not limited to: educating patients and families on hospice care and benefits, admitting patients, continued support through visits and involving other disciplines (social services, chaplain etc.) and follow-up care after bereavement.
Linda is fluent in English, Swahili and Kikuyu. With over two decades of experience providing care to patients, she is well-prepared for the challenge of hiring and training personel required to run Angel Wings Hospice.
